Professor Lynne Cobiac commenced her Chair appointment and Head, Dept of Nutrition and Dietetics in the School of Medicine in January 2007. After completing her BSc at the University of Adelaide, Lynne completed both her Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as her PhD into the role of eating fish and taking fish oil on cardiovascular risk factors in humans through the School of Medicine, Flinders University. Since then Lynne has also completed an Advanced MBA at Adelaide University and was awarded a prize in marketing. Prior to taking up the current position at Flinders, Lynne spent 20 years at CSIRO in a variety of roles ranging from research dietitian, research scientist, project leader, business manager as well as business development manager and research leader for a range of food, nutrition and diagnostic-related projects focusing on the prevention of the key chronic diseases of Australia namely colorectal cancer (and conversely the promotion of gut health), Alzheimer’s disease, and cardiovascular disease as part of CSIRO’s Preventative Health National Research Flagship. Her previous research interests took her into a wide variety of research areas including consumer science, iron deficiency, cross-cultural differences in nutritional intakes, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, as well as research in ageing, and gastrointestinal health. Lynne has also worked in a variety of clinical positions in both Adelaide and Sydney.
